April 2007 News
Have ya’ll started your spring gardens yet? No? Get on it! I picked up a tomato plant, strawberry plant and some misc. flowers at our local nursery a few weeks ago. I already have little marble sized ‘maters!
Ok, I got that out of my system. I never really “got” gardening. Now I think I do. It’s some quiet time. I love seeing what’s popping up next.
And since everything is fresh and new and clean in spring, we’ve polished up our policies and guidelines to help us keep this a clean, cheerful and friendly environment. Please take a minute and peruse our forum guidelines. And while you’re in spring cleaning mode, please refresh yourself on our signature guidelines and clean yours up if it’s not in compliance - Thanks!

Wow! March was supa busy! Hoodies, bags, all sorts of goodies! Well guess what, we’ve got more hoodies coming, and another surprise clothing item!
We want to thank you so much for your Punky Moms support in buying our merch and pimping our site! Not only does it help Punky Moms grow, proceeds will be helping us print our cook book!
We have one bad ass contest, being sponsored by Cortez and Company. They sent us the most beautiful sling, I wish I could keep it for myself! Go visit their website, if you haven’t, their slings are great for self-indulgence or for gifting. Please remember, our raffle tickets are “bought” with Plaudits, which you get just for posting! Everyone can enter this contest, and it’s free!
Just for fun, and to give our gardeners a little present, I have a Gardener’s Friend kit that comes with a smallish brick of soap and a crocheted “sack” to put it in. Big deal you say? It’s a special bar of soap hand crafted by Stephanie of NeatoGroovy and it hangs right on your garden spigot! It also contains a Burt’s Bees This Mega Mini Kitâ„¢ Donated by NeatoGroovy, isn’t Stephanie the best? How do you win? It ain’t no plaudit prize gals! Click here for the details, but the basics are, post a picture of your garden, and I’ll pick a winner! It doesn’t matter if you only have seedlings or have a fully grown garden, I want to see it! Flowers, plants, veggies, whatever. So long as you grew it yourself.
I’ve added a new comment feature on the main site. You will notice that under all articles there is now a “comment” link, with a number next to it. It essentially turns our site into one huge blog, you can all leave comments on articles. It is set so only registered users can comment (I am hoping that prevents spam) and it should automatically fill in your name and whatnot. Pretty cool, and I hope you all make great use of it. Let our authors know their articles were especially helpful if you found them so! A little feed back goes a long way.
There are a few other new features, still in testing. One of them is a new Punky Food area! Don’t worry, the old PunkyFood will not be phased out until we have extensively tested the new area and have decided it really is a great improvement. Please feel free to add a recipe or ten! We are testing it for the next two weeks (the duration of the free trial period) so the more you use it, the more data we have to decide to keep it. The search and sort features are much nicer than the program we are currently using, and it brings it back into the fold, so to speak, of the main site (meaning it uses your forum log in). Any recipes you submit will be attributed to your user name (and any we add will have the contributor listed in the description area).
Been waiting for new ways to invest your Plaudits? Well look no farther than the Punky Plaudit National Bank. That’s right. Invest those Plaudits. You can toss them in a regular savings plan or invest in a CD. You can also send Plaudits to your friends!
We also have a new raffle. It is strictly for Plaudits at this time. You can purchase up to 25 tickets (subject to change) at 100 Plaudits per ticket (subject to change) and the drawing is every 5 days (guess what! Also subject to change!). Our old single ticket raffle is still the raffle to use to enter our give aways! This is just a little fun diversion for your Plaudit fun.
Just one more improvement, I promise! I found and installed a better calendar! I have edited the Calendar link on our forums to point to this new calendar.
See the new goodness here.
This is our new and improved calendar system. Log out, you cannot view events but you can view the calendar itself (as in the dates of the year). All registered active users can view the calendar (same as the forum calendar).
