Happy Fourth of July to our American mamas! Are we all barbecuing yet? It's hot enough for it!
Winter & Waylon got some chickens, Sarah & Co. is moving back to DC, and I'm just floating along this summer with my tribe, trying to keep out of trouble.
We hope you are all enjoying a bit of a lazy summer, and if not lazy, at least not too hectic and stressful.

I might sound like a complete ass asking for advice on this but at the risk of being lame I am going to ask anyway! See, I have this problem when I go anywhere with my kids... they are, apparently, so cute that complete strangers want to stop and make faces at them! Yesterday I wanted to go through the grocery store quickly and it ended up being a 30 minute ordeal because three different mothers wanted their babies to see my baby and ask the most random questions! I get it. My baby is cute. Your baby is cute. Do we really have to stop in the aisles and have them look at each other every damn time we pass and point out how fricken cute they are? When I tried to politely pass one of the Moms without stopping and playing the "Look at how cute our fricken babies are" game she shot me a really nasty look. I just want to find my damn cereal woman! Leave me alone! I might sound like a complete ass but I really want to know the best way to just be able to go places without being obligated to play the cute game.
Sincerely,
Wishing She Birthed Babies that Aren't So Cute and Friendly
Dear WSBBTASCAF,
I'm lucky because I don't have that problem. Not because I don't have a cute kid, but because I'm a douche bag. What you do is you go into the store like you're on a mission...because you probably are. Get the kids in the cart and start storming around the store, frantically looking for things and yelling out loud when you can't find things. Not only will your kids think it's hilarious but no one will want to come near you. I know this suggestion is a bit over the top, but it really does work and the kids love to see their parents freak out. By using this method I have made shopping fun for the whole family, although I do embarrass any adult that is with me.
Your Douchiness,
Douchy Dan

PUNKY SOCIETY
June was chock full o' Punky get-togethers!
The California Punkymoms got together so often, it's hard to keep track! Regina (Saaridesign) had a pool party for visiting Hope (C.O.G) and family. Annie (Lolly), Leila (Kuniochi), Jan (MamaJan) and Taylor (DigUpHerBones07) brought their swimsuits and partied like rock stars. Larene (Tattoolover1980) planned a punkypicnic in NorCal... Leila (Kuniochi), Krista (Krisink), Tiffany (Tiffany), Kara (Count Mockula), Hope (C.O.G.) and new member JonnyT all braved the heat and brought their families for a day of fun in the sun. In the LBC, a fun night of dinner and debauchery was shared by Annie (Lolly), Leila (Kuniochi), Taylor (DigUpHerBones07), Meghann (Badkittie) and Amy (Sourpuss). In Florida, Diana (Dianajeanne)and Peggy (Peggy420) got their families together while Peggy was in town visiting relatives. They have video evidence of the good time that shared. Paula (Paulita) had lunch with Angie (Spotlightmama). Paula brought Violet, Jen (Jenstar)'s daughter along for some yummy food and baby socialization. Baltimore mama Kate (Katedid) brought her family to NYC for a visit. While there, they went to the zoo and met up with New York punkymoms, Regina (enrion), Kristen (nerdguerilla) and Sam (Crazy Raccoon Lady). Afterwards, all the punkyfamiles went back to Sam's house for pizza and some raccoon lovin'. In New England, Val (psyonia) and family headed over to share birthday celebrations with Tara (Kibbytap)'s daughter Julianna who just turned 4 years old. Judging from the pictures, a good time was had by all. Traveling punkyfamily Doug (vocald229) and Carrie (songsiren) met up with Tamiko (Tommycat), Brian(firebike) and Steph (Stephilis) for a fun filled day at Mall of America in Minneapolis. They (and their kids, of course!) went to Nickelodeon Universe and rode the rides there. A fun dinner ended the day. Back in Florida, Paula (Paulita) was spotted having warm banana bread with Laura (Mater facit). It was the first time they'd met face to face! Maryland punkymom Melanie (Spyro) traveled all the way to NYC to celebrate the graduation of Sam's (Crazy Raccoon Lady) sons. They had a fantastic weekend full of sightseeing, eating and animal petting. And last, but not least...Leila (Kuniochi) went to San Jose to attend Tiffany's (Tiffany) son's birthday party. Somehow..and really, who knows how these things happen?..Leila ended up in Tiffany's husband's pants. Oh my!
We can't wait to see what punkygatherings July brings!

Do you remember when a hand written letter was appreciated? When you took the time to write a letter to your loved ones in your best penmanship? Do you even remember what penmanship is? We may have thrown away those old ways (Thank you oh mighty and powerful internet!!!) but our children will be raised in an almost letter-less world. Get them writing this summer with a PunkyKid Penpal (or two, or three....). Lets all try to disconnect our kids from the boob tube, video games and ipods for a bit and get them writing!
Please note that the PunkyKids Penpals section of the board is for Premium Members only.
