May Day is a day of new beginnings.

Well, May surely brought some new beginnings to Punky Moms. We moved to a dedicated server with a new host (Alpha Red - and they seriously rock!). This means no more random site outages like we were having the past few months. But this change brought about another change - we had to start charging for some of our "services" so we could afford the new dedicated server. It was a very difficult decision to make, but in the end it was start charging a nominal fee or close down. So, fee it was. See below for more details on Premium Membership vs. Free Membership.

Other new things are the Punky Moms Eco Bags. The natural heavy canvas tote bag features the Punky Moms Save the World logo - it's sure to make a statement when you use your reusable bag for... everything! Bundled with your bag are samples of earth-friendly products & go-green tips, not to mention 10% of your purchase will go towards purchasing TerraPass renewable energy cards. Hurry, quantities are limited!

In the next few weeks, we will be introducing even more great changes - like allowing our members who have their own businesses to sell directly from our store.

Free Membership

You do not have to pay to be a member of Punky Moms. Because we are a parenting community for alternative parents, we feel it's absolutely necessary that all of the parenting forums and local meet up areas remain available to all. So all registered members continue to have access to these areas. To see a list of all that is still free, click here.

If you like the other forums that we have and all of the other fun stuff like avatars, signatures, RPGs, the arcade etc. and want to support Punky Moms, then you have the ability to become a Premium Member. With your paid membership, you have access to all of the free forums, the recipe forums, the media forums, the post-count protected forums (which remain post-count protected so not just any Dirty Ralph can buy their way into our sensitive information), and much more. I can't handle the douche bag parents at the park who refuse to watch their children. I don't mean that they need to hover over their kid, but when their snot-nosed-little cretin who is about 6 kicks my 3 year old in the stomach, we've got a problem. I find myself dreading the park because of these cunt-wads. What The Crap Should I Do???

WHAT THE CRAP?! It amazes me how parents can be so out of touch with their children. The easy answer is to confront the parent. But here's the issue. You probably don't know who the douchy parent is because they aren't watching their freaking kid!!! So, as an alternative, write a little note. Something like, "your kid kicked my 3 year old. I would have just talked to you about it, but I couldn't find you since you weren't watching your child. I hate to judge, but if you keep raising your kid like this they will inevitably grow up to be a douche bag just like you". Then pin the note on the child. Once it's time to go home the parent will finally read the letter and maybe some sense will be knocked into their brain. If more people do this and if the child collects enough notes, maybe the message will finally sink into these parents that you MUST watch your child.

Our new host Alpha Red hooked us up with an amazing deal on a dedicated server. They are attentive, quick to reply (almost every support ticket I've submitted has been replied to in under five minutes and resolved within an hour - this is unheard of superb customer service people) and super-easy to use.

Alpha Red has plans as low as 4$ a month too, for those of you who need low cost, high quality hosting. I think I might be moving my personal site over there once my current hosting expires (and the only reason it isn't a definite is because I have gigs worth of images stored at the current host - PITA to move)

I could wax poetic about how happy I am with Alpha Red but I'll let their service and our site speak for me. We're running at least ten times faster, we won't be shut down for system overage, and we wont be bent over a barrel over the pricing.

No, we don't get a kick back for touting them, they just rock that hard.

If you have a business and are trying to get the word out, you should consider having us review your product(s).

Having us review your product gets the word out about you and your stuff. It lets people who may be considering your stuff but aren't sure whether they want to buy know that you have a great product.

The review will be featured in our newsletter which is sent to everyone who is registered with us - not just those who are active on the board. We also publish the review on our main site which is accessible to the entire web surfing public. We will include pictures of your product, your web address and logo in our review. We will also give you a copy of the review to use on your site as a testimonial - provided you link back to us.
