| The Holiday Ad Book is Coming! |
What is the Holiday Ad Book you ask? It's a one stop directory of places to shop! It's more than a holiday gift "guide," it's a resource people will hang on to and reference all year long. I can't tell you how many times I've directed someone to this place or that looking for the perfect holiday gift, baby gift, mama gift... you name it! Whether you sell Avon, Body Shop at Home, Candles, Clothing, jewelry, you have a place in our book!
Punky Moms got over 6200 front page hits in August alone, PunkyMomsForum.com got over 63000 (yes, three zeros!) and that is where our ad book will be available for permanent download. That is some serious exposure!
For the ridiculously inexpensive rate of 20$ per 1/8 page ad (the size of a business card) you can have a spot in our holiday digital book. Spots are limited! The book will be available for free download to everyone as well as being distributed around the web.

As we say goodbye to summer, one thing is obvious....our new Summer boards were a big hit.
We had over 1,000 posts in Summer Fun DITLO and Summer Fun Times! There were lots of cool summertime crafts to learn, and new hikes to take. Punkymoms really enjoyed their vacation time! There were trips to museums, amusement parks, parades, zoos, picnics, fairs, the beach, pool parties, camp trips and barbeques to be had. But the big news is the dozens of Punky get-togethers! There are too many to mention individually, but take a look at our summer boards, Oh Snap!, and our local boards to see some awesome punkyfamilies enjoying the summer months together.

Hey you! Welcome to September! Summer is done and school is in.
And we all know that means our members now have more time to spend on the boards.
But that's not all that's going to make things busy around here again. Our own Darth Meaux gave Punky Moms a lovely plug on NPR's Talk of the Nation which has brought us a few members. We are also about to send out a press release announcing the grand opening of our new market place The Alt Bazaar. So be prepared for a flood of new blood. Please be kind and welcoming to the newbies.
Because things are going to be busy around here again, we ask that you all take five minutes and refresh yourselves with our rules. If everyone has them fresh in their minds, it will help us keep things running smoothly here.
We are looking forward to the busy time starting again - we can't wait to read all of your updates. |

Rule 1: Remember the Human
Rule 2: Adhere to the same standards of behavior online that you follow in real life
A) The old standby of "treat others as you want them to treat you".
Rule 3: Know where you are in cyberspace
A) This is a tricky one. You have been allowed to join a forum, but this does not give you exclusive rights. While we disagree with censorship, we and only we, control everything in this forum. You do not have "Freedom of Speach" here. Our Rules. Our Laws. Our Forum. End.
What you do have is the freedom to express yourself as long as you follow the rules. Try to run things your way and you will be stopped, especially if it disrupts the forum or causes some really fucked up shit. No questions asked!
Rule 4: Respect other people's time and bandwidth
A) Multiple pictures and long posts: please note they are photo heavy in the subject
Rule 5: Make yourself look good online
Rule 6: Share expert knowledge
Rule 7: Help keep flame wars under control
A) At the same time flames can be fun and healthy for letting off steam!
Rule 8: Respect other people's privacy
A) Taking flame wars to private is recomended but don't take it beyond control.
Rule 9: Don't abuse your power
A) This one is for moderators.
Rule 10: Be forgiving of other people's mistakes
A) Don't be an asshole!

We pretty much adhere to these rules when doing anything online. Most people don't see the person on the other side of the writing on the wall. Try to remember them.
Zero tolerance for anyone exhibiting elitist attitudes, threatening with obvious violence, racism, and for whatever else we decide. Remember this is our community and to continue your stay in here you will abide by our rules/guidelines. There are no censorship cry babies in here and/or freedom of speech bullshit. You will lose, hands down. Besides, think of it this way: Would it be right for us to come into your house for a party and start eating everything you had, setting things up to our liking, and telling you how to live your life? No it wouldn't be. Freedom of Speech and Censorship are two very different things with wide room for interpretation

If you're invited to a Chinese family's home, and you see a row of street shoes at the front door. You have some decisons to make. Here are a few of the most obvious ones.
1. A) You ask, ''Should I take off my shoes?'' To which the response would be, ''yes''...Then you do it,
or
B) be a complete jerkoff and dont ..then be asked to leave....and rightly so.
2) Take it upon yourself to take off your shoes
3) Say,'' I dont want to take off my shoes'' and leave.

4) You are asked to take off your shoes, you don't..so they let you in anyway and bite their lips while they feed you delicious home made wontons while you get mud all over the carpet and offend the elders lol

It's a new school year and my youngest has the same 1st grade teacher that my oldest had. I had a lot of issues with this teacher and it ended pretty badly. I tried to switch my youngest to another class, but the school said they couldn't do it. What the crap should I do?

Set aside some time with the teacher. Let the teacher know that the past is the past and you want to start on a new foot. Monitor the situation and make sure your kid isn't bullied by the teacher. If things escalate, get the principal and school board involved. You're both adults and you should be able to solve matters before it gets to that level. Good luck!

I'm sorry you are having economic trouble. It's never easy when your kids are affected by something you can't really control. I say bring on the hand me downs. Kids are going to make fun of kids no matter if they have the coolest clothes or the crappiest clothes. Go to the thrift store, pick out a bunch of clothes and re-purpose them. Give them a new life. Alter them to fit your kids' style. Your kids will learn that money isn't everything and you can still feel good about yourself, even on a budget.
