Happy Thanksgiving to our US friends! We've has so much happen this month, I don't even know where to start!

For once I am not the one moving, it was our own Sarah this time! She's left the concrete jungle of Washington DC for the slightly more green jungle of Pittsburgh. Winter had her usual October madhouse at work, thank god that's over! Now for the December rush *le sigh* As for me, just another year's end. I'll be happy for the new year to roll around. Yep, I plan ahead. I'm a big picture kind of gal. Weird, since I get lost in the details so often!

I miss seeing the seasons change. I miss collecting leaves, giving them in handfuls to my mom. Crumbling them throughout the house. Autumn is such a great time of year for kids. Then comes the snow... I don't miss that. You northern ladies and gents are crazy to put up with that mess. Shoveling the walk only to look behinid you and have to do it again. No thanks.

WRAP-N-MAT - Saving the planet one sandwich at a time!
Have a clean eating surface anywhere! Place the sandwich or other snack food in the center of the mat and fold left to right, top to bottom and close the loop and hook fastener. It really is that easy! WRAP-N-MAT keeps food fresh for hours. When needed, place a cold pack along side of the mat.

I've put PB&J in here, apple slices, chips, grapes, pretty much anything that can be contained in it without spilling out (which is darn near anything). Made of a thin bit of plastic and cloth, it's easy to clean and easy to dry.

While I wouldn't send one to school with my younger children, myolder seems about the right age to remember to bring it home and not toss it in the garbage. I love saving at least a bag a day (sometimes more!) and it makes my son feel better by having an extra bit of responsibility.

Recently in my playgroup we have been having people show up ill prepared to care for their children. They show up without a diaper bag and sustenance for their children. Not only that, but they mooch off of all of our stuff, often taken snacks and "borrowing" diapers from us. Also, when we have playgroup at a person’s home we usually all bring something, however lately said person has not been bringing anything and often shows up and rifles though MY cabinets looking for food for their spawn. I know they have enough money to feed and keep their child diapered, as they are well off. How do I approach this and let them know that this is unacceptable? I don't want to lose a friendship, but they are making me go broke as money is tight.

Well, you have three options:

1. The next time said person starts mooching, slam your cabinets shut on her fingers and give her directions to the nearest store or hand her some paper towels and duct tape instead of a diaper.
2. Go over to her house repeatedly and mooch all of her stuff until she gets the picture.
3. Gently prod this person to be more responsible. When you invite her over to your house, politely remind her that she needs to bring a diaper bag. Say something like: “Hey when you come over, don’t forget your diaper bag. I’d love to be able to help you with diapers and snacks, but things are kinda tight for us and we really can’t spare any diapers or snacks at the moment. I’m sure you understand.”

If you’re both going to a group outing, call the night before and remind her of what she’s supposed to bring. Then call her again an hour before she’ll be heading out to remind her not to forget to bring her stuff.
