Well, it is just about that time again. No, not the time to sacrifice virgins to uncouth gods. That isn’t for a couple more months. It is almost time to go back to school and if your teen is tired of being swamped in the miasma of cutesy or plain school supplies, you should check out Rock Paper Pencils.

Rock Paper Pencils produces writing needs for those who are not ashamed to show off their choice in music. They specialize in notebooks, die-cut notepads, journals, pens and pencils emblazoned with artwork and logos for some of your favorite artists

The items that I had the opportunity to check out were some of their spiral bound notebooks, pens, and, of course, pencils from Danzig, The Misfits, Social Distortion and My Chemical Romance. The notebooks are my favorite as each page is printed with a light version of the image on the cover. My personal favorite in this is the Misfits version. The is just something cool about jotting down notes and seeing the ever-awesome Crimson Ghost skull in the background at all times. The pencils are your standard #2 writing pencils except instead of your stock yellow paintjob that is all too reminiscent of the yuppy Hummer, they get a much cooler custom hotrod finish in Soulless Black with the band’s logo and artwork all around. The Social Distortion pencils are the ultimate in smooth. I can’t let them be anywhere but at work where they are in constant use. The pens are a capped pen with the same kind of artwork that is on the pencils. My only regret was that the pens could have been a smoother write, but I am also spoiled by high-end writing instruments. These pens are more than adequate for jotting down your teacher’s notes or passing notes in class.

For your average school kid trying to make an impression or stand out from the crowd, Rock Paper Pencils definitely rocks. Save the virgin sacrifice for after you graduate.

Wrap-N-Mat

NeatoGroovy.com Wrap-N-Mat

NeatoGroovy brings us our product review this month!Stephanie sent me a WRAP-N-MAT and I’ve been sending it to school with my son. He loves it! I love it! I’ll tell you why in a minute.

WRAP-N-MAT - Saving the planet one sandwich at a time!
Have a clean eating surface anywhere! Place the sandwich or other snack food in the center of the mat and fold left to right, top to bottom and close the loop and hook fastener. It really is that easy! WRAP-N-MAT keeps food fresh for hours. When needed, place a cold pack along side of the mat.

I’ve put PB&J in here, apple slices, chips, grapes, pretty much anything that can be contained in it without spilling out (which is darn near anything). Made of a thin bit of plastic and cloth, it’s easy to clean and easy to dry.

While I wouldn’t send one to school with my younger children, myolder seems about the right age to remember to bring it home and not toss it in the garbage. I love saving at least a bag a day (sometimes more!) and it makes my son feel better by having an extra bit of responsibility.

Don’t have a kid to use it for school? Use it for work! Wrap up your sandwish, your afternoon snack, your morning scone, anything!

NeatoGroovy recommends hand washing in warm water and air dry. I just give it a rinse in the kitchen sink and dry it on the counter. It’s that easy. WRAP-N-MAT may also be machine washer and dried on low heat, but I didn’t try that. I don’t trust my dryer quite that much.

If you order from NeatoGroovy soon, you get a free reusable beverage bottle too! WRAP-N-MAT comes in an EcoPrint or a Skulls print.

XY Factory

This months review is of XY Factory. Stephanie is one of our members, and has some great products in her store!

This product review is for a infant onsie and it got rave reviews!

Design: excellent
Performance: excellent
Appearance: excellent
Ease of Use: excellent
Quality:: excellent
Uniqueness: excellent
Compared to similar products: excellent
Overall: excellent

This is a great onesie! The garment itself is made by Gerber, whose clothing is always of good quality. In addition, it is tagless, so there is nothing to irritate the back of my li’l dude’s neck. The design is very unique; it is most definitely not something you can pick up in the discount store on the corner. After two days of wear and three trips through the washer (with regular detergent, not baby detergent) and dryer (on high heat), there is no discernable difference in the pattern or the fit of the garment.

I don’t really have anything negative to say about this product. The quality is excellent, the artwork is awesome, and the price is very reasonable. I would buy this for my baby, and I would give it as a gift.

First I would like to say thank you for letting me test out and review this new product for Punky Moms.

When I first received the shirt I thought maybe it wouldn’t fit me because I’m a rather large chested mama and have a huge belly for 26 weeks pregnant. I put the shirt on and found it to be a little tight but when I looked at it in the mirror realized all I needed to do was put on a better fitting bra and I was quite sexy in the shirt. I liked how it clung closely to my big belly showing off my pregnant self. I also really like how the arms and neck line are open and loose so I could move freely and not feel tight and confined in those areas. I felt sexy in my shirt when it was tight but on days I didn’t really feel very well or like being sexy I simply stretched the shirt out a bit so if fit more loosely. This technique worked great to give me that comfy baggy feeling and the shirt still looked good. The best part was when I washed it the shape of the shirt came right back and I could wear it “sexy” style again.

I love wearing something that looks good on me but isn’t mainstream out of our local maternity store. I went into one of those stores and all the ladies in there just loved my shirt.

I am a breastfeeding mama with this pregnancy so I like the fact that Icould easly present a breast to my son because of the loose neck line of the shirt, and the shape would immediately come back when I was done feeding him.

I had to wash this shirt at least five times because my kids are messy and constantly dropping food and paint and play-dough onto my clothes. The shirt kept its new look even after that many washes and I can’t say the same for some other items I have purchased. It never shrunk, never lost its brightness, and the decal never cracked or faded or changed in anyway.

When I first got this shirt I thought maybe $24.99 was a bit much for a modified T-shirt but then after using it and wearing the heck out of it, I realized that for a frugal person like me $24.99 was a perfect price for a shirt that can take a beating and keep looking good and stay comfortable. For me during pregnancy its important to feel sexy and be comfy and this shirt did that.

I also would like to add that I believe it will still serve me well beyond the birth of this child because of the fact that you can stretch it out a little to not cling to your body it will look nice on me and not make me feel self conscious because it clings to closely and at the same time not look like a maternity shirt and of course I can easily breastfeed the new one wearing this shirt.

Comfy Easy PC Learning System

I love this product. My toddler loves this product. My older kids love this product. Oh, got your attention, hm? It’s the Comfy Easy PC Learning system. It’s a keyboard system for your PC that your child (ages 1 - 5) can use all by him or herself. Talk about great! Who doesn’t have a headstrong toddler who is all about “me do it!”? You don’t need extra special knowledge to set it up - just plug ‘n’ play!

The keyboard comes with one software title; others are available and at approximately 20$ per title, they aren’t too expensive. They come in various themes and levels. Each title has multiple levels and multiple languages too! My kids learn in English, Spanish, Hebrew, German, French, and more. Wow!

The keyboard itself is very durable. It got dropped a few times, of course my toddler was leaning on it, banging on it and otherwise abusing it. Not a single problem with it! Nothing was broken, busted, cracked, unattached or lost! If you know my kids, you know that’s nothing short of miraculous.

My two year old took right to it. No coaching, or having to show her what to do. It freed up my time to make dinner, clean, do laundry, whatever. The Comfy characters kept her totally entertained for at least twenty minutes, but usually much longer, to the point I had to tell her it was time to stop and turn it off!

We sampled quite a few software titles, and they were all a hit. I can’t even suggest one over another. Each title has it’s own merits, and own reasons to be touted. I think our favorite was the music title, we were loving “playing” the drums and piano and other instruments.

I honestly want to sing it’s praises. The characters didn’t get annoying the way some do and neither did the songs or other sound effects. My daughter keeps asking for “sleeping moon” over and over and over again. I love that it teaches beginning computer skills without the worry of breaking a typical keyboard. I didn’t have to tell the kids to get off or be careful. I could leave them be and go do what needed doing or I could actively engage the game with them. Every button brings a reaction, and every reaction brings a smile. I couldn’t ask for a better learning system to compliment the computer we already have.
