We have had tons of good news, bad news, downright shitty news and Fucking OMFG great news! In fact, we’ve had so much happen this month, we bet we’re forgetting a lot, so if we have, please don’t feel forgotten! Let us know, and we’ll note it in January’s letter.

Sam (Crazy Raccoon Lady) and crew went to Tokyo and had a bit of a scare, but overall had a great trip. She shared her photos! If you missed them, go find them, they are super fantastic! Sarah (Muse) is about to pop FangFang out (and trust us, she agrees, it’s about damn time!). It snowed in Seattle and we’ve got lots of new jobs floating around… and oh so much more we can’t keep up. Heather (Hellkatmom) got a much needed new fridge for free. Peggy (peggy420) and Tiffany (hardcoretiff) both got new cars (man, can the car fairy spread the love please???)

The Secret Winter swap appears to be going wonderfully - there have been lots of happy mamas posting hails to their secret stalkers for wonderful gifts. We’ll be setting up a schedule of swaps throughout the year, starting in January, so keep an eye out for that post! We’re hoping by having set swaps, everyone can participate who wants to, and it will keep flakers to a minimum (minimum, in this case, being equal to none).

We will be adding content by the ton to our site in the coming year! Articles on breastfeeding, bottle feeding, both feeding, baby carrying, co-sleeping, crib sleeping, vaccinating, not vaccinating, ear piercing, partying it up with a toddler to worry about… Oh the topics are endless! Want to contribute to our little project? You can view the entire thread here but here’s the skinny:

We have a new goal. We want to add one page of content, real content, to our main site, every day for the year of 2007. One page of content is 500 words or more. That’s about five paragraphs, real quick n’ easy to punch out! Need a topic? Check out the board forums! Or pick a topic we don’t have a board for, whatever! It can be 500 words or more worth of prose about the hilarity of a shit covered wipe stuck to the wall, we don’t care!

Your article will be proof-read, but otherwise unchanged, and added to our main site (PunkyMoms.com) and viewable to the general public. Your work is still your own. We will put a Copyright [YOURNAME] on it. We only ask that if you have previously published your work, it be legally available for us to publish. We will also send you a document to type your name into once you send your article to post. We are not in a position where we need this now, but it would suck to have to retro-actively search people down for this, so we’re doing it as we get submissions. Just be aware that by electronically signing this, you give us the rights to publish your article on our site and in our archives and possibly in our Zine.

Please send all articles to admi...@punkymoms.com as a text file, word doc, paste it into the body of your email, or whatever. Please no PDF’s. You can include images if they pertain to your article, but please send your images separately, not embedded in the article. You can send in as many articles as you want. We’ll post reminders about this periodically so it doesn’t fall by the way-side.

[I'm not quite sure why Sam is on there twice, she was listed under to different dates though]

Happy Thanksgiving to our US mamas! This month we’re also celebrating All Saints Day, All Souls Day, and Veteran’s Day. Yep, there are a bundle of misc. “day” days, but I am skipping listing those.

Make sure you buy a raffle ticket for our current raffle, it’s for a Saari Designs blanket! It’s an awesome blanket too, perfect for your little one. It’s a Mary print on one site, and red flat faux fur on the other. Snuggly and warm, perfect for the coming cold. As always, raffle tickets are purchased with Plaudits, and Plaudits are earned just by posting! Everyone starts with 100 Plaudits, so everyone gets at least one free raffle ticket. That keeps us legal! I’m giving away goodies for second and third place this month too!

We’ve installed a new shopping cart! Check it out at http://punkymomsforum.com/PunkyShop [Ok, I like how it looks now, but I still might bypass it on main links, like the one at the top of the page. It's mostly there to help search pages index, as they wont index a php page.] Even if you had an account with our old cart, you will need to sign up a new one when you purchase from the shop. It’s an entirely different system. Cool new features include a wish list, member-only discounts and items for sale, Customers can search & browse personal order history, “Send to friend” area (hint hint hint) and so much more.

As you know we offered a free name change last month, and changed those who desired new screen names. Now there is a new way to get one! In case you skipped the bit about the new cart, read the paragraph above this one. Done? Good. As soon as you register with the cart, I get an email. It tells me we got a new registration and tells me what membership type you have chosen. Seeing as you are a Punky Moms Forum Member, you’ve probably chosen that one. I go in and confirm this and edit your membership to say why yes, yes you are a Punky Moms Forum Member and then you get access to an exclusive, members only shopping category. It’s magic I tell you!

Right now the only things in the magic, members only category are name and title canges, but soon we’ll be offering special members only products and discounts. It pays to be a Punky Mom!

Back to the name change thing, yah? Here’s the low-down:
When you registered, you picked a name. Maybe you decided it doesn’t fit anymore. Maybe you just don’t like it. Whatever the reason, here is how you can change it!

For the low price of $2.50 (we think this is a nominal fee, and will keep people from changing their names willy-nilly, just because) you can pick a new username. You will be required to re-intro upon a name change, but all your information (post counts, Plaudets, all that jazz) will be retained.

Note: A username change needed for security reasons does not require a fee. Security reasons include your username being your first and last name, your username being well known and you are being stalked, or you are going through personal issues that resulted in being stalked/harassed. These changes can be requested by email to admi...@punkymoms.com or PM to any of the admins on the board.

Please enter your current username as well as at least two options in the “comments” area when you check out.

We’re also offering “Tag, You’re It!” and a “Pick Your Own Custom Title,” but you’ll have to register and log in to see what that’s all about!

We’ve noticed liberal use of the bitchy board lately! How about making just as much use out of the Happy Mamas area? I know, I know, we need to post in there too, but our most used board is Bitchy! Hola Muchachas….

This months letter has proven difficult to write. We’ve had so much tragedy in the past few months, we actually put off the letter in the hopes of some new fabulous news! Well, we’re bursting with stuff to say, so we can’t put it off any longer.

In case you haven’t logged on in a while, please do now, we need positive wishes for a few of our cherished members and their babies. We will be holding a candlelight vigil every evening for the month of October, to remember Besha’s baby boy Jeremy and Ren’s baby boy Gavin, as they passed on very recently. We also need healthy vibes for our dear Raven and her girly Goblins. Her boy Goblin Ronin saved a life, but unfortunately lost his own battle.

Good news? Well, we are running a little low, but here’s the skinny…

MissD had two gorgeous twins in September, Olivia might be getting new boobies soon, Winter is not going to Oaxaca (who the fuck can pronounce that anyway??) BUT that’s a good thing b/c we don’t want her to have to kick some Oaxaca-on ass while she’s there, so she’s stickin’ to Mexico City instead, let’s hope she comes back to us, lucky lady! Amanda had some surgery to help fix her thyroid (fix it, they got rid of it!) and that went supa-fantastic, Jenn is going back to the land of hurricanes, Sarah is ready to pop that FangFang out! and Natica is kicking life in the balls, you can’t get much better than that!

We have so many posting whores, I can’t even list them all, but congratulations to them all! We love to see so many mamas on at all hours of the day and night reading and writing and getting and lending support to those who need it.

We’ve gotten some very nice notes lately letting us know how much the board means to you all. We love that we can offer a place that isn’t catty (and if it is, it isn’t for long) or judgmental. A place that we all feel at home, even though we aren’t all the same cookie cutter mamas. It wouldn’t exist without you guys!!

We also want to thank you girls for being so incredibly supportive these last few weeks towards our moms in crisis…it is you guys that make Punkymoms such an awesome and loving community.

During the weeks leading up to November 1st, you will be able to fill out this form (http://punkymomsforum.com/forms/use/namechange/form1.html) to request a name change! You will be required to post a new intro with your new name before you can do anything else on the board. Jenn will be doing the name changes, and will email you when she’s done with your username. Hey Beeshnitzels! We’ve been so busy we almost forgot about the August Newsletter…better late than never!

I mean busy, when I say Jen packed up the whole family and left the swaying palm trees of Florida for the sticks of West Virginia to go and hunt some wild game… No…not really..she’s too busy wrangling her own wild animals, between her 3 kids, husband, and 1,610 Punkymoms!

Sarah moved also! But what’s more important is she is having a BOY! We will call the Fanning spawn “Fang Fang” for now up until the blood war over name decisions is over in Washington DC. It’s quite possible little Fang, may just remain a Fang Fang Fanning until his mother is allowed to drink a bottle of wine then bust it over someone’s head. Does the news get any more fuckin exciting? Yes it does! The Punkystore will be launching at any moment now! Maybe by the time you’ve read this letter even! What’s in store? REALLY CUTE TOPS! Winter has been slaving her ass in the name of Punkymoms (the kitchen has silkscreen ink permanently sunk into the grout on the floors) working on the cutest one of a kind hand screened, tanks, tunics, puffy sleeve tops and thermals! Get them while they last, cause she may just hop the next cruise ship to Buzios at any moment and never come back! There’s other goodies too…

Guess what? We are going all balls out bad ass with the board pretty soon too! We will be driving the Mercedes Benz of boards…Invision Power Boards, with all kinds of bitchen new features, including the one that diapers and feeds your child so you can post more on Punkymoms!!! WHOOOT!!!
